Republica Dominica, Day 7

Day Seven began with a rainy morning van tour of the city of Puerto Plata. Stopped at an overlook for pics:

Then toured the Brugal Rum factory (it was LOUD!):

Then the Amber Museum:

Then the Spanish Fort, which would probably have been the most interesting thing to see had it not been for the rain, and the graffiti, and the missing (presumed stolen) displays:

That evening, we in the middle of our dominoes game, Doug got up and signed up for Karaoke. Then he karaoked:

Clowns to the left of me, Albanians to my right, here I am, stuck in the middle with you!

Were there velociraptors at the Amber Museum? T-rex?

4:08 AM? Dan, do you sleep?

I should have put more detail in the blog post, but I was feeling particularly lazy. Apparently, Dominican Republic is famous for its amber. The museum has a very interesting collection of various amber types along with various unfortunate prehistoric critters encased in amber. Also, a good chunk of Jurassic Park was shot in the DR. (I'm guessing it was the rainy scenes!!!)

I sleep sometimes. It was only 2 AM here. I had to make up some hours since I goofed off all afternoon.

Last night I only noticed that Jurassic Park ripped off the Amber Museum logo (or the other way around). It's been a while since I saw the movie so I didn't make the connection -- the internets say some of the AM's amber was used in the movie.
